Mission Statement

Hellenism and Hellenic culture have had a profound impact on our civilization in a broad spectrum of spheres, ranging from art, social, political, and economic organization, to philosophy, law, medicine, and science. The University of Manitoba Centre for Hellenic Civilization is the only university Centre in Canada dedicated to the study of Greek civilization. Its mission is to focus, develop, and sustain research, teaching, and public education on Hellenism, with particular emphasis on the impact of ancient, medieval, and modern Hellenic civilization on contemporary society.
