Bachelor of Arts General Degree (90 Credit Hours)

All students admitted to the Faculty of Arts are automatically admitted to the General Degree Program.

  • Attendance may be Full Time or Part Time.
  • 90 credit hours or 15 full courses

Major:

  • Minimum 30 credit hours, of which 18 credit hours must be taken at the University of Manitoba or through an approved University of Manitoba exchange program, if admitted to Arts for the 2009 Fall term or thereafter 
  • Cumulative grade point average of 2.00 on all courses taken for purposes of satisfying the major

Minor:

  • Minimum 18 credit hours (except when major is Global Political Economy)

Options:

  • Double majors of 30 credit hours in each of two subject fields are permitted in lieu of a major and minor
  • Minimum 30 credit hours outside the major and minor or double major plus 12 credit hours in the area of choice which could be courses from the major, minor or other subjects 
  • Written English and Mathematics requirement (minimum of 3 credit hours in each)
  • Must complete 6 hours in a Humanities, a Social Science and a Science (view requirements)
  • Must complete 30 credit hours of course work at the 2000 level or higher
  • Must satisfy a residency requirement of 48 credit hours or final 30 credit hours at the University of Manitoba
  • 6 hours of credit from each of 5 different subject fields
  • 2.0 cumulative grade point average on 90 hours offered for degree credit
  • Must have 60 credit hours of courses taught by Arts (may include 24 hours of Mathematics, Faculty of Music, or Art History courses)
