The Dean of the Faculty of Arts has established travel awards to help support Arts students who have been accepted into either a one- or two-term exchange with an approved international (outside Canada or the United States) partner of the University of Manitoba. The Faculty of Arts encourages students to expand their programs of study towards their degrees by experiencing the unique opportunities that international academic exchange provides.

Students may apply for these awards on the accompanying form, if they meet the following qualifications:

• Applicants must be registered in a degree program in the Faculty of Arts at the time of submission of the award application.
• Applicants must be accepted into an exchange with an approved international partner institution of the University of Manitoba at the time of submission of the award application.
• Applicants must provide evidence of application for other student exchange financial support.

Students’ applications will be evaluated on the basis of two factors:

• Financial need
• Academic achievement in their degree program in Arts (appropriate to their year of study in their program)

PLEASE NOTE:  If you do not take the exchange, the funds will be returned to the Faculty of Arts.  Also, you must remain a student in the Faculty of Arts for the duration of your exchange program in order to receive this award.

Award value: 

$500.00 - $1,000.00 depending on the number of qualified applicants.

Submission date:

June 1st of the year in which the applicant will study abroad (if study commences in the Fall or Winter term of that year), but at least two months before expected departure.
