The Dean of the Faculty of Arts has established travel awards to help support Arts students who have been accepted into either a one- or two-term exchange with an approved international (outside Canada or the United States) partner of the University of Manitoba. The Faculty of Arts encourages students to expand their programs of study towards their degrees by experiencing the unique opportunities that international academic exchange provides.

Students may apply for these awards on the accompanying form, if they meet the following qualifications:

• Applicants must be registered in a degree program in the Faculty of Arts at the time of submission of the award application.
• Applicants must be accepted into an exchange with an approved international partner institution of the University of Manitoba at the time of submission of the award application.
• Applicants must provide evidence of application for other student exchange financial support.

Students’ applications will be evaluated on the basis of two factors:

• Financial need;
• Strong academic achievement in their degree program in Arts (appropriate to their year of study in their program), normally indicated by a degree GPA of 3.0 or better.

Award value: 

$500.00 - $1,000.00 depending on the number of qualified applicants.

Disbursement of award:

Funds will be awarded by way of a credit to your University of Manitoba Aurora Student account, either on August 31st or December 10th, depending on your departure date.  Note that if you do not take the exchange, the funds will be returned to the Faculty of Arts.  Also, you must remain a student in the Faculty of Arts for the duration of your exchange program in order to receive this award.

For Winter departure: October 1st
