sets the standards for training and development in Canada. For more

CSTD recognizes that the University of Manitoba's CACE program addresses the competency categories for the training and development industry outlined in CSTD's Competencies for Training and Development Professionals.
Students enrolled in this program are eligible for student membership with CSTD, and graduates are given a credit of one year towards the work experience requirement of the Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) designation.
Certificate in Adult and Continuing Education (CACE)
With the emphasis on lifelong learning in a global economy, there is a demand for adult educators and trainers who can facilitate the educational process and take a leadership role in the field of adult education.

Who will benefit?
The CACE Program is for anyone who helps adults learn in the private or public sector. You will benefit from this program if you:
- instruct or train adults in classroom or other settings
- develop, facilitate or coordinate training or education programs in business, industry, institutions or community organizations
- provide support services to adult education
- design educational materials for adults
The Program
Courses in the CACE Program are offered face-to-face in the classroom, in a blended learning format and by distance delivery. Some are available in a fully online format. You can complete the entire program at a distance. Distance courses include assignment submission via email and may include online discussion groups. Blended learning combines face-to-face classes with online learning via a course website.
The 250-hour program consists of 150 hours of required courses and 100 hours of elective courses. Elective courses are designed to address current issues in the field. Elective courses offered face-to-face may vary from those available by distance delivery. Many are offered in a workshop format. A two-day workshop counts as 15 hours elective credit in CACE; a three day workshop counts as 20 hours elective credit.

* This course, if successfully completed previously through Continuing Education at the University of Manitoba, may be transferred into the CACE Program by submitting the Certificate Course Credit Request Form.

Getting Started in CACE
For maximum benefit from the program we recommend that you have at least one year of experience as an instructor, faciliatator, developer, program planner or administrator of adult and continuing education, whether in a paid or volunteer position. Applications to the program are accepted throughtout the year.
To apply, simply complete and submit the Application to Enter Certificate Program, along with the $50 application fee ($75 for international students). We will send you a welcome letter when your Application has been approved.
If you are ready for your first course, you can also submit the Course Registration Form and tuition payment at the same time. If we do not approve your Application, we refund your tuition. With your U of M student ID you can login to the Student Access Site (SAS) to look up your confirmation of registration for each course in which you register. It provides important details about the course such as dates, times, location, required textbook, etc. Your final grades are also recorded here. Changes to this information are added to the Student Access Site.

- Take individual courses or complete the Program.
- Start at various times throughout the year.
- Sequence courses according to your needs and interests.
- Take the maximum five years to complete the Program or fast track your schedule.
Face-to-face, blended and online courses may be offered throughout the year; distance delivery courses are offered over three terms beginning September, January and May.
CACE courses are transferable within the universities offering the CACE Program. Students must provide a transcript to their home institution.
Graduation
When you have successfully completed a minimum of 250 hours of instruction, including the four required courses and 100 hours of elective credit, you will be awarded a Certificate in Adult and Continuing Education by Extended Education at the University of Manitoba. To be eligible to graduate, you must submit the Application for Graduation Form by the due date indicated on the form.
