This certificate program is for undergraduate arts and science students in their third or final year of their degree at the University of Manitoba or those who have recently graduated with their degree.

What employers want

To meet the changing requirements of a dynamic workplace and to keep pace with innovation, employers are insisting that potential employees have a balance of Essential and Employability Skills.  The Government of Canada defines essential skills as the “foundational skills required to successfully participate in the Canadian labour market” and the Conference Board of Canada describes employability skills as the skills necessary for entering and retaining viable work. 

What you need

• Entice potential employers with a credential that documents your essential and employability skills.
• Earn recognition and certification through measurable and established standards.
• Be a better candidate for the job.

The Program

The program consists of 9 credits from your undergraduate degree (3000 or higher level Arts or Science courses) and  9 credits (3 courses) from the following list of Extended Education, Continuing Education courses:

• 98987 Leadership: Concepts, Principles and Application

Take advantage of spring/summer one-week courses, online or other regular session sections to complete the program in a few terms.

You can also apply your credits to the Certified in Management (CIM) national
accreditation from the Canadian Institute in Management (or another certificate program in Continuing Education).

How to Apply ot the Program

To apply to the program, please submit the Application to Enter Certificate Program Form. You will also need to submit a Course Credit Request Form (Please note that the credit form is a different form form the one used by other programs.) for the undergraduate courses (9 credit hours total) for which you are requesting credit in this program.

Certification/Graduation

To qualify for graduation, you must successfully complete the three Extended Education, Continuing Education courses within a maximum of six years from acceptance into the program and maintain a minimum overall grade average of “C ( 2.0). To be eligible to graduate you must successfully complete all the program requirements and submit the Application for Graduation Form by the date indicated on the form.
