Immigration now counts for 100% of the net labour force growth in Manitoba as a result of an aggressive recruitment and immigration program. This growth will continue as Manitoba strives to meet its goal of 20,000 new arrivals per year. We live in a province that is increasingly linguistically and culturally diverse. This shift is apparent in our corporations, communities and educational institutions; thus increasing the need to create an environment based on respect for and a high level of understanding about cultural differences. How do we, as a society, develop the knowledge and skills to establish respectful personal and working relationships within and amongst this diversity? How do we create an appreciation of the many different perspectives and approaches we encounter on a daily basis within our work and personal lives?
As the program was developed by Manitoba Labour and Immigration, the focus is on immigration and the intercultural skills required to work with immigrants.
