The Program
The program, which normally takes three years to complete consists of five required courses and two seminar days. Students have five years from the date of registration in the program to complete the requirements for this certificate.

1. This one-semester (3-month) course is offered by distance delivery in the Spring, Fall and Winter sessions and on campus in the Fall sessions.
2. Students must successfully complete Introductory Accounting for Municipal Managers before taking Municipal Accounting. Using Accounting Information may also be taken as the prerequisite for Municipal Accounting.

Admission Requirements
There are no educational requirements. Those employed, or wishing to be employed, in the municipal fiels are invited to enroll.
Tutorials
One-day tutorial sessions are held in Winnipeg and Brandon for most courses. Although they are not mandatory, students are strongly encouraged to attend. Additional information is included in the course materials package.
Seminars
In order to successfully complete the program, students are required to attend two, one-day skill building seminars.
Seminar Substitutions
Students on the MMA Program may apply for seminar subsitutions. The seminar to be considered for substitution must meet the following criteria:
- be a skill-building type of learning experience
- be directly relevant and applicable to the Manitoba Municipal Administration field
- be a minimum of 6 contact learning hours
- completed within the last five years
Documentation of the seminar content, instructional resource and proof of attendance must be submitted with a Certificate Course Credit Request form. The administration fee of $75.00 per seminar day and must accompany the original request. Please call the Program Administrator for further details.
Final Examination
All students must find a suitable final examination supervisor. Complete information on the final examination is included in the course material package.
Grading
Most courses consist of a combination of term work (assignments) and a final exam. In order to pass a course, you must score at least 50% on the final exam and achieve a minimum overall course grade of "C" (60%)
Co-Sponsors
Manitoba Intergovernmental Affairs, Government of Manitoba and the Manitoba Municipal Administrators' Association are co-sponsors of this program. Representatives from the Association of Manitoba Municipalities are also on the Program's Advisory Committee.
Certification/Graduation
To qualify for graduation and receive a certificate, students must complete all required courses and seminars within 5 years of initial registration in the program. An overall Grade point Average of at least 2.0 (C) is required to graduate. Upon completion of this certificate program students achieving an overall GPA of 4.0 or higher, will be eligible to receive a certificate "with distinction".
