To Apply to a Certificate Program:

  1. Complete and submit the Application to Enter Certificate Program Form*.

Admission requirements vary from program to program. Please check the Program Descriptions or call your Program Administrator for details.

  2. Submit any other required supporting documents (e.g., letters of reference, letter of intent). See the Program Descriptions for details or call the Program Administrator.

Note: Registrants pursuing a certificate program where the certificate is offered by or in cooperation with an Association/Agency are authorizing the University to release their grades to those external agencies.

To Audit a Course:

You may audit courses in some certificate programs depending on availability of space. If you wish to audit a course you must make a request in writing to the Program Administrator and normally meet all program and course prerequisites.

Students are expected to participate fully in the classroom setting. The student's work will not be formally evaluated - no grade will be awarded and credit will not be received. Regular course fees apply.

Confirmation Notice/Tax Receipt

This information is found at the Student Access Site.  In addition to Confirmation of Registration Letters (which lists location of courses and any textbooks), you can also view and/or print Grade Letters and Tax Receipts (T2202A), view your contact information and student record. We no longer mail out any of these items. Please note that grades will not be released over the telephone.

When you register for a course, you must provide your birth date as requested on the registration form, so we can assign you a U of M student number. This student number gives you access to the Student Access Site (SAS). When you register, we e-mail you your student number and a temporary password. If you have been a U of M degree student, you will be assigned your previous student number.

If you have any questions about accessing the SAS or do not have a student number or valid password, please call (204) 474-8016, toll-free 1-888-216-7011 ext 8016 or e-mail: extended@umanitoba.ca.

Course Cancellations

Decisions to cancel courses due to low enrolment or other administrative reasons will normally be made one week before the start date of the course. If this occurs, a full refund will be credited to your original form of payment.

Fee Payment

Fees may be paid by:

All fees are payable to the University of Manitoba. Registration is complete when tuition fees are paid in full. Space will not be held if partial fees are received.

Goods and Services Tax

Most Continuing Education courses listed are exempt from the federal goods and services tax (GST). Courses subject to the tax include a GST assessment in the fee information for that course.

NOTE: Do not forward GST with your course payment unless directed to do so.

Registration Deadlines

The registration deadline for most courses is one week prior to the course start date.

You are advised to register early; registrations are processed on a first-come first-served basis. If a course is full, you will be contacted and your name may be placed on a waiting list. You must pay the full course fee to be placed on the waiting list. You will be contacted if space becomes available. If space does not become available, a full refund will be made to your original form of payment.

Registrations are not usually accepted after the course start date. With the permission of the Program Administrator, you may be allowed to register after the deadline date.

Please include telephone numbers where you can be reached between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on the Course Registration Form.
