Final examinations and grades

A final examination is scheduled for most courses Distance and Online Education (DE) courses. Specific information about the structure of the final examination will be provided by the course instructor.

Exam schedules

Schedules are posted in late October (December exams), early March (April exams), and late May (July/August exams).  You must be available to write your final examination during the time period specified in the Academic Schedule.

Exam centres

If you live in Winnipeg you will be scheduled to write your final examination at the University of Manitoba main campus.

If you live outside Winnipeg you must submit an application by the deadlines.  Students who do not apply will be expected to write at the UM main campus.  Locations other than those listed on the application form may be approved under certain circumstances.

Deferred examinations

If you miss a final examination for medical or compassionate reasons, you may be granted a deferred examination.  Travel plans are not an acceptable reason to miss examinations.  The application(s) for deferred exam must be filed no later than seven working days after the end of the examination series in which the examination was scheduled, and provide written proof (such as a medical certificate) supporting your reason for the missed examination.  The date of your illness or affliction must correspond to the dates of the examination.  If your request is approved, you will, in most cases, be offered the opportunity to write another examination within 30 working days from the end of the examination series from which the examination was deferred.

Release of grades

Following the end of courses, final grades will be posted on Aurora Student. Grades are not available from DE Student Services.

If you did not write your final exam at the UM main campus, please allow several weeks for your final grade to be posted.
