University 1   Summer Session Registration

New and returning University 1 students register for courses using Aurora Student, the University of Manitoba’s online registration system, according to the Registration Schedule.

New University 1 Students and Start@U1

New University 1 students are required to complete the Start@U1 Online Tutorial and quiz before registering for courses. The Start@U1 Online Tutorial will teach students to choose courses, determine a course load, build a timetable and use the Aurora Student registration system. Other registration related concerns, such as fee payments and photo identification cards, will also be addressed.

Course selection information for University 1 students is found in the University 1 Start Book.

Start@U1 details and the University 1 Start Book will be mailed to admitted students. Detailed information will also be available online.

If you decide not to start university in Summer Session, you do not have to reapply for the Fall/Winter. Contact Lisa Morrison at (204) 474-8813 or 1-888-216-7011 (ext. 8813), or by e-mail: lisa.morrison@ad.umanitoba.ca to have your application moved to the Fall/Winter.

Returning University 1 Students

Current University 1 students will remain in University 1 for the Summer Session, and if eligible, will be able to transit to the Faculty of Arts or the Faculty of Science for Fall/Winter using Aurora Student in June 2013. Exceptions to this policy will be considered on appeal to the Dean's Office, Faculty of Arts or Science. Admission to all other faculties for the Fall/Winter are processed by a formal application to the Admissions Office. Application forms and deadline dates are available at Admissions.

University 1 students wanting to repeat a course require permission from a U1 Academic Advisor.

University 1 Students on Probation and Academic Suspension

If you are on probation, you are strongly advised to see an Academic Advisor prior to registration.

Students whose Winter term assessment results in a Suspension will not be permitted to register in Summer Session courses. Students who have already registered in Summer Session courses will be removed and provided with a full refund for any tuition fees paid. Contact a University 1 Academic Advisor for more information.

See the University 1 section of the Undergraduate Calendar for information on U1’s Performance Standards.

Summer Session Course Loads

Do not register in courses that have final exams scheduled for the same time, or for courses which result in three examinations on the same day. Deferred examinations will not be granted. Check the Class Schedule for exam dates and times.
