International Dentist Degree Program (IDDP)

 

On-site Assessment - Track A

The On-site Assessment will be held in early August of the year preceding entry into the program. It consists of a personal interview and a psychomotor skills assessment on dental mannequins, held over a four/five-day period.

Applicants will have the opportunity to meet some faculty members and students presently entered into the undergraduate program, will be given a tour of the Faculty, and provided information about Student Support Services and the City of Winnipeg.

There is a non refundable On-site Assessment Fee of $1000.00 CDN.


Components of the On-site Assessment:

  1. Personal Interview
    The personal interview will be conducted by a single panel of university members and will last approximately half an hour. Its purpose is to learn more about the educational and work experience of the candidate, as well as assess candidate’s ability to communicate in English. The interview will assess aspects of the candidate's life/practice experiences relevant to their application to the University of Manitoba’s IDDP.
  2. Psychomotor Skills Assessment
    These will involve tooth preparation and/or placement of restorations on mannequins. Opportunities for practice sessions will be provided during the testing period. Details of these exercises will be provided to those selected for the On-site Assessment.
  3. Essay
    Immediately following the personal interview, applicants will be asked o write an impromptu one page essay on a given topic to further assess the candidate's ability to communicate in English.
  4. OSCE
    An Objective Structured Clinical Examination will be given on the morning of day 5 of the Onsite Assessment.
