Research Interests

Ms. Watt's research focuses on foraging ecology in narwhals using a combination of chemical and spatial techniques. Fatty acid and stable isotope analyses are being utilized to investigate differences in diet among narwhal groups, identify dietary constituents, and define stock identity of individual narwhals and social organization of narwhal groups. Spatial data collected from satellite-linked tags and analyzed using state space models will also be used to identify critical foraging areas for narwhal groups.
