Research Interests

Dr. Deming studies microbial extremophiles, most recently those that inhabit ice formations. She is interested in their impacts on biogeochemical cycles in sea ice, water, and sediment; the evolutionary basis for their adaptive strategies; and how they may be harnessed for bioremediation and biotechnology.
