Karen Foster

Postdoctoral Fellow

Ph.D. University of Ottawa: Chemical and Environmental Toxicology
B.Sc. (Hon.) Trent University: Environmental Chemistry, Emphasis in Northern and Polar Studies

Research Interests

Dr. Foster studies the fate of contaminants in the Arctic environment, including:

  • the governing processes, such as biological vectors and oceanic/atmospheric long-range transport;
  • bioaccumulation and biomagnification in organisms;
  • trophic transfer of contaminants within food webs;
  • methodologies for less invasive biological monitoring of contaminants;
  • multimedia mass balance modelling of contaminant fate processes.
