Overview
The Life Course Health Initiative began in 2007. Its mission is to promote research excellence in the creation and translation of an evidence base for the development of effective social and health policy and practice in Canada and beyond.
The LCHI is guided by a multidisciplinary life-course orientation that recognizes the multifaceted and developmental nature of human health and the need for an interweaving of physical and social science research in order to understand and improve health and wellbeing throughout the lifespan.
The objectives of the LCHI are to:
- foster and support multidisciplinary research collaborations;
- facilitate the dissemination of research findings to practitioners, policymakers, and community leaders;
- encourage consultations and partnerships to help guide research agendas;
- create training opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
