Specialization - Developmental Health

In recent decades our understanding of health has changed from an “absence of disease” to a more positive emphasis on social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities.   In this area, you will learn about issues ranging from the impact of parent-child relationships on child development to decision-making about end-of-life care.

Requirements for Completing a Master’s Degree in Family Social Sciences  with a Focus on Developmental Health

  • 2 of:
  • Family Social Sciences Seminar* within the first 12 months of the program
  • 1 elective at the 7000 level from within the department
  • 1 elective at the 7000 level within the department or 5000 level (or higher) outside the department
  • 9 credit hours* of methodology courses from the department approved list
  • a research thesis

*Important Note: These requirements are pending approval from the Faculty of Graduate Studies; it is anticipated that they will apply to all new MSc students entering the program in September 2010.
