Medical textiles offer both improved protection from contaminants and opportunities for the development of new products through modeling and simulation of mechanical and transport behavior of fibrous/biomedical materials; Research into skin/fabric interactions and their impact on skin lesions and ulcerations; Protection and defense textiles against virus and biological agents; Nano/micro fibrous membrane/filtering materials; and research and testing of fiber reinforced composite materials.
Research in Product Development concentrates on the end users of the textile product. How people will use it, marketing strategies and identifying groups that have special textile needs are all part of this area.
