Dr. Friel works primarily with infant nutrition focusing on mother's milk. His research program looks for new bioactive molecules in mother's milk that may be applied to other areas of the life cycle.

Education:

B.Sc. Concordia
M.Sc. University of Saskatoon
Ph.D. University of Guelph

Areas of Specialization:

  • Nutritional Science
  • Antioxidants in health and disease
  • Infant nutrition

Research Interests:

  • Infant Nutrition: Effects of nutrient intervention
  • Antioxidants: Antioxidant properties of nutrients
  • Health and Chronic Diseases: Role of nutrients, neutraceuticals and functional foods
