KAMLOOPS - "We are in a good spot right now."

The words of a very happy University of Manitoba Bisons Mens Basketball Coach Rick Suffield. And he has a reson to be pleased. His club raised their record to 3-11 after their third straight victory. A 77-62 win over the hometown Thompson Rivers University WolfPack before over 300 fans at the Tournament Capital Center.

"We played the way I thought we could play," stated Suffield. " We've just off two wins over Alberta and Saskatchewan. So we are flying high."

One player who was flying high was fourth year guard Isaac Ansah (Winnipeg, MB). He was allowed to run the court pretty well untouched for the entire contest. Ansah was 9-20 from the field and wound up with 23 points.

"I think he's second in Canada West in scoring so he plays pretty consistently," stated Suffield, who also gave credit to forward Darcy Coss. The fifth year man from Winnipeg tied Ansah for the team high with 23 points in the contest. "Darcy shot the ball very well. he had some great three's. Everybody did things at times that helped us and got the win."

TRU started well, leading by three, 18-15 after the first quarter. Guard Kamar Burke (2nd year, Mississauga, ON) had eight of the WolfPack's points in that period. But it ws the Bisons who led on the scoreboard at the half 33-29. Bruke wound up with a game high 33 points for TRU. He added 12 rebounds. Rookie Guard Geoff Matthews (Kamloops, BC) added 11 points and 10 boards.

The Bison move into Abbotsford Saturday to take on the University College of the Fraser Valley.  TRU (now 2-15) entertain Manitoba's arch rivals, the University of Winnipeg Wesmen the same night.

Suffield had praise for the WolfPacks new digs, the T.C.C.
"I've never been to Kamloops before. But I love the enviornment--the city, the facility. I look forward to coming back". As for the rest of the season, He admits that some losses in the first semester might come back to haunt them as they make a late charge for a playoff spot.
