At the end of the 2008 Canada West Swimming Championship in Edmonton, the Manitoba Bison men’s swim team finished in fifth spot with 185 points (two points behind fourth place Victoria) and improved 22 points from last year’s result in the seven team event. The women's team ended up in sixth spot with 137 points (13 points back of fifth place Lethbridge).

The Bison highlight of the third and final day of competition was the gold medal performance by Braeden Taylor in 200m breaststroke in a time of 2:18.08.

Overall during the three day Championship, Taylor earned three medals (gold in 200m breaststroke and two silver performances in the 50 and 100m breaststroke events). The men 4x100m medley and freestyle team were fourth and Brent Collins swam to a sixth in the 100m backstroke.
