Cross Country Results from 22nd Annual Roy Griak Invitational

In the men's 8km race on Saturday, September 29 at the 22nd annual Roy Griak Invitational at Minneapolis, the Manitoba Bisons finished fifth out of 25 teams.

The number eighth ranked team in the CIS were led by Kristjan Hunter. Hunter won his second consecutive race of the 2007 season by blazing the course in a time of 25:27. He won the race by two seconds and seven seconds over the second and third place finisher. There were 255 men competitors running in the race.

Paul Carr ran to a 24th spot (26:48) while rookie Colin Barnett was 26th in a time of 26:48. Sheldon Kilcullen (65th) and Mitchell Man (75th) rounded out the top five Bison performances of the meet.

In the women's 6km race on Saturday, September 29 at the 22nd annual Roy Griak Invitational at Minneapolis, the Manitoba Bisons finished 12th out of 30 teams.

Georgette Mink led the way with a sixth place run in a time of 23:02. There were 283 women cross country runners competing in the event. Rookie Alice Sherwin was the second Bison to complete the course in 36th spot (24:15) with three more Bisons - Andrea Hesketh, Melanie Gregorie and Lacey Ginter - placing in the Top 100.

"I am very happy about both team results. We showed good improvements by both teams as the men side was strong with a fifth place and a 12th place by a rookie laden women team is a good showing," stated Bison Cross Country Head Coach Claude Berube Kafter the meet. "Kristjan winning the race is a big accomplishment in an important event such as the Roy Griak. Georgette moved up from her last year result is another positive."
