Former Bison women's basketball player Anne Smith to be inducted into Manitoba Basketball Hall Of Fame in Fall of 2013

Bison Sports is pleased to announce that former women's basketball player Anne Smith will be inducted into the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame in the Fall of 2013.The announcement was made at the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame Induction news conference on Tuesday, April 23 at the Duckworth Centre.

She is one of four inductees (include Dan Becker, Norm Froemel, Joey Johnson plus Smith) into the Player category for this year

Smith was an integral part of two Manitoba Bisons CIAU (now CIS) championships in back-to-back seasons during 1995-96 and 1996-97 seasons. She started her Bison career as being selected on the CIS All-Rookie team in 1995-96. Then, she was also named three times as a CIS First Team All-Canadian (1997-98, 1998-99 and 2000-01).

In addition, Smith was CIS National Women's Basketball Player of the Year (Nan Copp Award) - only the second Manitoba Bisons player to earn this honour. She played her high school basketball in Quebec.

2013 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame with the official induction ceremony taking place on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Victoria Inn in Winnipeg.
