Manitoba Bisons cross country results at Ron Pynn Invitational at Grand Forks, ND
Men defend their title; Women place second

The Manitoba Bisons cross country results at Ron Pynn Invitational at Grand Forks, ND on Friday, September 19.

The men's team successfully defended their title they held from last year as they won with a low score of 38 to second place Mary University at 56.

For the Bisons, Paul Carr was second (26:07), Mitchell Man was third (26:27), Adam Penner was tenth (27:25), Joel Laurier was 11th (27:34) and Tyler Hynes was 12th (27:37). There was seven Bison runners in the Top 16. 55 runners competing in the men's 8km race.

The women's team was second in team standings with 71 points. University of North Dakota won the title with 33 points.

For the Bisons, Melanie Gregorie was tenth (19:34), Alex Bell was 12th (19:39), Lacey Ginter was 15th (20:05), Andrea Hesketh was 16th (20:06) and Alice Sherwin was 18th (20:16). There was seven Bison runners in the Top 23. 73 runners competing in the women's 5km race.

Bison cross country head coach Claude Berube stated,"This is a great start to our season. We had several impressive runs and I was pleased by the results from both teams. This was a good test for several runners to gauge where they are at the beginning of the season."

The Bison cross country teams will compete at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis on Saturday, September 27 for their second of six meets this season.
