She earned the victory after being in a tie for second and three shots off the pace before the final round.
During the two day, two round NCAA Division II golf tournament, Lichtman competed with several very good players from other schools on a difficult golf course. Other schools competing in the tourney were host St. Cloud University, Bemidji State and Minnesota State Moorhead. Earlier this 2009 season, Lichtman had two other Top 10 finishes when she was tied for seventh at Concordia Invitational and a tie for fourth at the Cobber Open.
This was the final tournament of the 2009 Fall season for the Bison women's golf team and the first team victory of the season. Manitoba played in five overall tournaments during 2009 fall season and also finished third, fourth, 11th and 13th. Steve Christie backstopped the Manitoba Bisons men’s hockey team to an impressive home sweep of the 2008-09 Canada West finalist Saskatchewan Huskies over the Oct. 2-4 weekend. Christie earned two victories while only giving up three goals with 73 saves during the 2-1 and 6-2 victories. He is first in the conference with a 2-0-0 record, 1.50 GAA and .961 Save Pct. In both games, Christie was named as one of the stars of the game. Manitoba is now 2-0-0 record for four points and tied for first in the Canada West conference. This was Manitoba’s first sweep of the Huskies since Nov. 30-Dec. 1/07 at Manitoba (W 5-1 and W 4-2). Christie was also named CIS and Canada West Male Athlete of the Week for his efforts.
The Bisons will host the Lethbridge Pronghorns (0-0-0) in conference weekend series on Oct. 9-10 at the Max Bell Arena.
