BISON HISTORY AT THE NATIONALS
The Bronze Baby - is awarded annually to the CIAU Women's Basketball Champions. The trophy dates back to 1922 when it was donated by the Student's Council of McGill University. Until 1970, the Women's Interuniversity Athletic Union(WIAU) in Quebec and Ontario awarded the Bronze baby to their conference championship basketball team. In 1971, the WIAU was dissolved as a conference and the trophy was retired and returned to the donor, McGill University. McGill students then offered "her" to the Canadian Women's Interuniversity Athletic Union in June of 1972. The figure is a replica of a statue that was on the grounds of Dunfermline College of Physical Education in Scotland.
