Wellness Presentations:
Definition of Wellness: Making Choices that bring
quality, health and joy to your life and provide you
with the vitality to have energy for daily living
- Get active every day, Your Way – for Life
What can people do to become more active
Too much to do and too little time. It’s time to
reduce stress and celebrate life. We know that small
successes over extended periods of time lead to
meaningful lifestyle changes and overall health. In
this presentation you will be equipped with knowledge
on how to make these changes We will help you
get started with positive steps towards active and
healthier life.
- Capture the Moment – Be spontaneous
How to maintain a degree of wellness in the work
environment, even when stressed
Is it possible to slow down, smell the roses and still
have a thriving work environment. Is it possible to
rest, recharge, enjoy life and eliminate the anxiety,
error-prone and ill atmosphere. Over working may
have become your worst enemy. Learn about different
causes and their effects and how to make a positive
change. This presentation will get us energized and
motivated instead of just thinking about it.
- Identify small choices in life – What is Fun
Fun is a feeling, laughter and energy that all of us
want to be part of. It makes the experience come alive
and it is essential part of our lives. Sit back, loosen up
and enter “the zone”. Unwind the chaos from your life,
relax and enjoy. Happy employees are integral part of
the successful workplace.
All sessions and initiatives will be mostly interactive
and will promote healthy active living. Our goal is to
make everyone feel confident and happy in a safe and
comfortable setting. These workshops are designed
to inspire and encourage everyone, even those
who are not currently involved in physical activity, to
take the first step toward healthier and more active
living. The sessions are based on positive thinking,
spontaneity and team building. The activities will
be voluntary, non-intimidating and short in duration
(5 – 10 min.) with minimal or very light effort, for
example; standing in a circle tossing bean bags
(group juggling).

Active Living Centre
Each year, more than 7,800 students and 1,000 staff and community members use the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management’s recreational facility at the University of Manitoba. To better accommodate these groups, the University of Manitoba is expanding its current recreational facility to create a world-class health, wellness and fitness centre with construction beginning in the fall of 2012. The new 100,000 square foot Active Living Centre will house a state-of-the-art indoor running track, a 40-foot climbing wall, a social gathering area for students, a strength and conditioning room, a group workout area, 3 multi-purpose rooms and a space devoted to bringing together service providers from multiple disciplines with researchers and graduate students to support people striving to begin or sustain an active lifestyle. Fundraising for this project is already underway with a significant commitment from government and is now focused on gaining donor and community support.
