A winter tradition for over 15 years, the UMHL is a men’s recreational, non-contact, adult ice hockey league. The UMHL season consists of 22 games, plus playoffs, with games scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in the Max Bell Arena on the University of Manitoba Fort Garry Campus.

Open registration for new teams starts August 9, 2012 at 10am, and new teams are accepted on a first come basis.

Registration Dates

Automatic Registration - Tuesday August 7

The teams with the top Fair Play Point scores in their division for the 2011-2012 season (Giant & Pylons) have been granted automatic registration, provided they register online and submit payment before 8:00pm on Tuesday August 7.

Early Registration – Wednesday August 8 from 10am to 8:00pm

Any registrations received by returning teams after this time will be in Open Registration and considered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Only returning teams are allowed to register online during their registration period. However, teams still must complete and submit a copy of the team registration form. For assistance with the online registration process, contact the leagues coordinator or (204) 474-6100 to speak to our customer service team.

Open Registration – Thursday August 9 starting at 10:00am

Open registration is for all new teams to the UMHL for the 2012-2013. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis, until the league has reached capacity. All new teams to the league must complete a team registration form, and drop it off to the Customer Service Desk at the Frank Kennedy Centre. The team registration form is included in the league registration pdf on the right, and registration will not be considered complete without the submission of this form.

How do I register my team?

Print off the team registration form and bring it with payment to the customer service desk at the Frank Kennedy Centre during normal hours of operation. Payment is accepted by cash, debit, credit card and only cheques made out to the University of Manitoba. Confirmation of successful registration and next steps will be sent to the team captains.

In addition, all teams must pay a Team Default Deposit in the amount of $300. This deposit acts as a performance bond against team behaviour and ensuring all league requirements are met. These requirements include, attendance at team captains meeting, attending all scheduled games, no performance or sportsmanship issues.

League information

All team captains must attend the Captain’s Meeting on Wednesday, September 5th at 7pm. The UMHL will start league play the weekend of September 14-16th.
