The following are descriptions of the fitness programs available at the University of Manitoba (Fort Garry Campus). THESE CLASSES ARE INCLUDED WITH YOUR MEMBERSHIP. All abilities are welcome to participate as these are non-competitive and fun programs to make everyone feel good.
All fitness instructors employed by Bison Recreation Services are accredited through the Manitoba Fitness Council (MFC).
BODY FUSION - This fluid yoga class will keep your body and mind challenged as it blends on pose into another with an acclerated pace.
CARDIO JAM - This class is a heart-pumping, dance workout that will improve cardio and core strength while you let the music set the pace.
CARDIO KNOCKOUT - This dynammic workout will rev up your cardio and endurance while you kick and punch your way to strength and self-confidence.
CARDIO KNOCKOUT & SKIP - This challenging class incorporates step intervals, kick aerobics, and a little skipping to raise your heart rate and get your blood pumping for an exhilarating workout like no other!
CYCLE XPRESS - This intense cycle class will kick your regular workout routine into high-gear while driving to the beat of energy-infused music. Challenge yourself to these full-body, aerobic conditioning sessions and leave feeling victorious.
HARD CORE STRETCH - Increase your flexibility and range of motion with these static and dynamic poses that flow seamlessly from one to the next. Resistance is added by using dynabands.
IRON LADDER - This class is a combination of cardio step and muscle conditioning intervals to create a powerful workout that will spark your energy for the rest of the day.
ON THE BALL & STEP IT UP - With an emphasis on cardio, stability, flexibility, and core strenth, this fun and challenging workout uses the fiball and the step to engage your muscles and focus for the duration of the class.
POWERHOUSE - In need of a little muscular strength training in your workout? This class uses hand weights dynabands, and tubing to boost your strength and endurance.
POWER CIRCUIT - Building muscular strength and endurance has never been so fun with this easy to follow class that guides you through a training circuit designed to hit every muscle group with measurable success.
STEP IT UP - An aerobic workout using Reebok benches that will keep you on your toes with fun and easy-to-folly routines.
SHALLOW H20 - Shallow water workout in the pool that uses the water's natural buoyancy and resistance to provide an invogorating workout that is easy on the joints.
TOTAL BODY BOSU - This workout will sculpt your body and increase your core strength while focusing on stability, balance, and improved co-ordination to keep your muscles guessing.
ULTIMATE TABATA - Using a 2:1 ratio of intnse anaerobic to recovery exercises, this vigorous high intensity interval training (HIIT) circuit will challenge you to push yourself while you build strength and endurance.
