Location and Facilities

Bison Sport and Active Living offers both on-site and off-site training. If you choose to have off-site training, our nationally certified fitness professionals will come to your practice or training location and lead your athletes through their training session.

On site training will take place at the University of Manitoba’s Fort Garry Campus. Facilities that may be used include:

  • Frank Kennedy Centre
  • Max Bell Centre
  • Joyce Fromson Pool
  • University Stadium
  • Outdoor Practice Fields
  • Joe Doupe Recreation Centre (Bannatyne Campus)

Taking the bus is the easiest way to get to campus, and as a U of M student, you can get a discount on your monthly bus pass at Answers Information Booth located on the main floor of University Centre. The main bus stop area is right beside the Tier Building. The following Winnipeg Transit buses come to the Fort Garry Campus:

  • 36 Northwest Super Express
  • 60 Pembina
  • 61 University Super Express
  • 62 Richmond Express
  • 72 Dalhousie/Killarney
  • 75 Crosstown East
  • 76 U of M/St. Vital Centre
  • 78 Crosstown West

  • From the North:
    Approaching the University from southbound Pembina Highway, turn left onto University Crescent.
  • From the South:
    Approaching the University from northbound Pembina Highway, turn right on to Chancellor Matheson Road.
  • From the East:
    Take the Pembina Highway exit from westbound Bishop Grandin. Take southbound Pembina Highway and turn left on to University Crescent.
  • From the West:
    Approaching the University on Bison Drive, cross Pembina Highway and the road you are on becomes Chancellor Matheson Road.

Parking:

Daytime Parking 7:30 am to 4:30 pm:
Paid parking is available at all meters, ticket parking lots and the University Parkade behind University Centre. All other parking lots are off-limits unless you have a valid parking pass. If you're not sure where to park, stop at the University Information Booth at the intersection of Chancellor Matheson Drive and University Crescent.

Evening Parking 4:30 pm to 7:30 am:
On-campus parking is free after 4:30 pm anywhere except for designated ‘24-hour reserved’ parking areas and handicapped areas.
