Perceptual Motor Behaviour Lab
pmb signIn the Perceptual Motor Behaviour Lab, Dr. Glazebrook and her students seek to understand how the nervous system integrates sensory information for motor learning and control when all sensorimotor systems are functioning normally, as well as how the nervous system alters these processes when one or more of the sensory or motor systems are disrupted. By establishing how multisensory information can facilitate performance of skilled actions the findings from the Perceptual Motor Behaviour Lab will have implications for the design of robotics, technology, and novel rehabilitation programs. The findings from experiments conducted in the Perceptual Motor Behaviour Lab increase our understanding of the underlying neural processes for motor control and learning, and test new and innovative approaches to the assessment and treatment of new or challenging motor skills. The advancements made will contribute to developing interventions that are cost effective and track changes in motor performance accurately.

Currently there are three main areas of research:

  1. Multisensory-motor integration in the typically developing population
  2. Sensorimotor integration in individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder
  3. Assessment and treatment of individuals with neurological disorders
