M. Sc. Program
The Asper School of Business prides itself on continually exploring new ways to serve the market and develop programs that are considered leaders in their field. Our unique MBA and Ph.D. programs are excellent examples of how we have developed innovative programs. Our Master of Science program represents several years of research and market analysis, and is the newest graduate program offered by the Asper School of Business. Designed for those who have an interest in studying an area of business at an in-depth level and who want to develop their research skills, the program offers a unique opportunity for graduate study in business. Students in this program will be taught and mentored by some of the best research scholars in North America. Our policy of selective, small enrolment programs will ensure that students receive the highest quality education.
What makes the M.Sc. program unique?
Our program is small...
Only a small number of students are admitted each year. The size is intentionally limited to foster students' development through intense and close interaction with the faculty. This close interaction with the faculty should provide you with the opportunity to learn exciting research methods and theories.
It is vastly different from other Masters programs in business...
The creation of the M.Sc. in Management as a specialist degree, coupled with AACSB accreditation, introduces a program which differs from an MBA program in that it has a research orientation, requires a thesis or practicum, has an in-depth curriculum in a particular discipline of Management, and involves one-on-one work with faculty mentors. Traditional MBA programs prepare students for general management functions with little depth of expertise in research or technical aspects of business operations. Graduates of the M.Sc. program will be uniquely positioned to undertake additional graduate work (e.g., at the doctoral level), to take up staff/research/consultative positions in private or public sector organizations in Canada, or to teach in smaller colleges in Canada or overseas.
It is specialized...
Unlike traditional MBA programs, which are known for the breadth of knowledge conveyed to students, the M.Sc. in Management program allows for specialization in one of the areas of management education and the development of theses and practicums that further develop the areas of specialization. The Asper School is staffed with a number of highly skilled academics who have established a well-respected PhD program. The M.Sc. program more effectively utilizes the faculty and resources in developing highly competent university academics and industry specialists. The program and its graduates will be known for their specialization in one of the core areas of management study (Organizational Behaviour, Organizational Theory, Human Resource Management, Strategy, Supply Chain Management, Marketing or Actuarial Mathematics). In addition, the program produces graduates well versed in research methods and specialized knowledge in these areas.
It has a research focus...
Throughout their Masters studies, students are engaged in research endeavors with the faculty. Students are assured of working with faculty members on projects during their program. In this way, students are assured of receiving a hands-on experience with the research process.
We have committed faculty...
Students receive guidance from scholars who have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in research, publication, and teaching.
