Developing the policy

The first drafts of a performance feedback policy were developed in the Fall of 2012 following the environmental scan, literature review and faculty consultations (Background).

These early drafts were sent to all Department Heads in the Faculty of Medicine followed by a second round of consultations through one-on-one meetings with Department Heads, Section Heads, Department Executive Councils, faculty members and presentations at Departmental Rounds.

The policy and performance guidelines were also drafted based on a wide-range of input from faculty members as well as academic and administrative leaders including the Faculty of Medicine Research Review Committee, the Department of Medical Education, Deans, representatives from human resources and legal counsel.  Doctors Manitoba and the University of Manitoba Faculty Association (UMFA) also provided input into the policy and performance guidelines.
After incorporating this feedback into another draft of the policy we hosted our first Open Forum on April 4, 2013. Thank you to everyone who participated and who has provided ongoing input and feedback into the new Career Development and Performance Feedback policy
