Dr. Ira Ripstein, Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education Dr. Ira Ripstein is a graduate of the University of Manitoba Faculty of Medicine (MD/80) and has taught in the faculty since 1982. Dr. Ripstein is an Emergency Physician at St. Boniface General Hospital, an Associate Professor in Emergency Medicine and was Associate Dean, Postgraduate Medical Education, from 2005-2010.

Dr. Helmut Unruh, Faculty Lead, Undergraduate Medical Education Accreditation Dr. Helmut Unruh joined the Department of Surgery in 1985. He is a Full Professor, Deputy Head of the Department of Surgery and Head of the Section of Thoracic Surgery. He is also the Director of Surgical Research at the University of Manitoba and Director of the Manitoba Lung Transplant Program. Dr. Unruh completed his medical training and General Surgery residency at the University of Manitoba. He then completed his training in Thoracic Surgery at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in Exeter, England and McGill University in 1984. Dr. Unruh attained his Special Competence Certificate in Thoracic Surgery with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1985.

Karen Howell has worked in healthcare since 1977. She completed her MBA and a Certificate in Quality Assurance (both at U of MB, and was Quality Assurance Coordinator at St. Boniface General Hospital where she helped coordinate two hospital accreditation surveys. She was a mock accreditation surveyor for the HSC and participated in the planning of the first CancerCare Manitoba accreditation site survey of 1999. She was a also Project Manager for the WRHA Lab Medicine Program and for other clinical areas (dialysis, critical care, respiratory therapy) and most recently was Confidential Secretary to the Dean of Medicine. |
