About Us - Committees

CPD Advisory Committee: This committee has broad representation and informs us of societal needs and expectations. It includes representatives from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba, Doctors Manitoba, Manitoba College of Family Physicians, the Office of Rural and Northern Health, and departmental representatives.

Faculty Committees: The Associate Dean-CPD is a member of a number of committees within the Faculty of Medicine including Faculty Council, the Faculty Executive Council, Dean’s Council, Department Heads’ Council, the Professionalism Sub-Committee, and the Centre for Healthcare Innovation Executive. The Division is represented on the Clinical Learning and Simulation Facility Education Committee, and the Faculty Development Committee. The Associate Dean is also a member of the Education Sub-committee of the Joint Operating Division of the Faculty of Medicine and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.

Internal Committees: Members of the Division’s planning committees (Banantyne, Community-Based, Stand-alone Programs, provides the Division with information on needs and preferences of the physician communities we serve.

External Committees: The Associate Dean-CPD is a member of a number of external committees: the Standards Committee of the CPSM, RCPSC Region 2 Advisory Committee, AFMC sub-committees, and the Provincial Strategic Investment Committee of Manitoba Telehealth.

Partnerships: Our partnerships, and formal/informal discussions with partners, such as the Interprofessional CPD Network, provide us with specific data related to key programming directions and issues.

Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada CPD Educator: The Division of CPD has established a formal relationship with the RCPSC and Dr. Eric Sigurdson, their local RCPSC CPD Educator who was appointed in the fall 2010. We feel that this relationship will be beneficial to both parties in understanding the needs of specialists in our region and comparing them to nationally expressed needs. The Division provides administrative supports to the RCPSC CPD educator, and he is a member of our CPD Advisory Committee.
