CAPE

INTRODUCTION TO CLINICIAN ASSESSMENT PROFESSIONAL ENHANCEMENT

The CAPE Assessment is a multi-faceted assessment designed to assess physicians who are now, or have been, in practice. It assesses knowledge, skills and attitudes relevant to practice in Manitoba. It is a three day assessment which consists of a Multiple Choice Questionnaire, a short answer Therapeutics assessment, a Structured Oral Interview, and a Comprehensive Clinical Encounter. Full information on the components can be found in the Candidate Instructions below.

International medical graduates cannot apply directly to have a CAPE Assessment; all applicants must apply through the International Medical Graduate Program of the University of Manitoba. Candidates for the Assessment for Conditional Licensure are referred by the Program for a CAPE Assessment as a final step of the application process. Successful candidates will then undergo a 3 month clinical field assessment in rural Manitoba including both office practice and assessment of emergency skills. Please note that all decisions regarding licensure rest with the IMG Program and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.
