Self-Directed Clinical Traineeships

Self-directed clinical traineeships are prolonged learning experiences, usually planned to enhance current or to learn new knowledge and skills. They are personally designed, flexible and effective training for practicing clinicians.
Typically, they last from 2-4 weeks and must be less than 6 months duration. The traineeship usually occurs in a full time block but part-time may be possible in certain disciplines.

Eligibility

Family physicians or specialists licensed to practice in Manitoba are eligible to participate in self-directed clinical traineeships.

Credits

Family physicians completing self-directed traineeships wanting to receive Mainpro-C credits should complete and submit the specific Submission form for Mainpro-C credits form for clinical traineeships. Twenty-five (25) Mainpro-C credits may be claimed for each traineeship completed.
Specialists completing self-directed clinical traineeships wanting to receive Section 3 educational credits from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada can report their activity within MAINPORT.

Fees

There is an application fee of $150.00
Depending on the nature of the program requested, there may be additional supervision fees.
