Relaxation Techniques

  • Breathe: breathe in through your nose 1-2-3 and out through pursed lips 1-2-
  • For muscle tension, first tighten the muscle and then let it relax
  • Head to toe: lay down in a dimly lit room and envision each muscle relaxing, start with the muscles in your face and work systematically all the way down to your toe
  • Imagery: find a “happy place”, use breathing techniques in conjunction with your mental image
