Visiting and Using the CLSF
Arrival
Upon arrival, users should go to the reception desk and sign in with the receptionist. Users without a swipe card will have to knock upon arrival to notify reception and then sign in.
The receptionist will contact IT support for users requiring tech support. IT support will meet users in the room(s) reserved and ensure that all requested technology is available and operating.
Maintaining a Professional Environment
All CLSF users are requested to help us maintain a professional office environment by keeping noise in the hallways and in open exam rooms to a minimum. We ask that the same professionalism that would be demonstrated in any health care clinic be used in the CLSF.
Food and Drinks
We ask that absolutely NO food or drink be taken into any of the exam rooms. The CLSF has a high rate of use by multiple groups and your cooperation will help us maintain a clean and efficient clinic space and ensure that all equipment continues to function effectively. Any users found with food or drinks in exam rooms will be asked to leave the facility immediately.
Clean Up Following CLSF Use
In order to maintain a professional, functional space, all CLSF users are expected to complete general cleanup after their use as detailed below:
Use of CLSF Simulation Equipment
The CLSF contains sophisticated and expensive simulators and audiovisual and information technology. Unsupervised use may lead to damage.
Sessions requiring simulation devices (SimMan, NewSim, SimBaby, Noelle, Bronchospopy, Endoscopy, Laparoscopy) must have an approved supervisor. Approval must be given by the CLSF Medical Director and will be based on confirmation of appropriate training in the use of the device.
A list of supervisors trained in the use of the simulation devices will be kept in the facility. If a supervisor for a session requiring a simulation device is not on this list, and an approved supervisor is not immediately available, the session will be considered cancelled.
CLSF Audiovisual Technology
All requests are to indicate whether video recording is required, and indicate the proposed use of the recording including:
Immediate review in the facility will routinely be approved. Once the review is complete these recordings should generally be erased. Later review outside the facility by trainees will generally not be approved. However, later review outside the facility by faculty only will generally be approved on condition that the storage is secure and that the recordings are to be erased or destroyed after use.
All video recording is to be performed by CLSF IT support only. Users must indicate that video recording is required when submitting their request to ensure IT support is available.
Emergency Procedures
The CLSF is located on University of Manitoba property, therefore University policies and procedures for emergencies apply. In the event of a fire or health emergency, dial 555 from any phone in the CLSF or dial #555 from a cell phone (for MTS or Rogers customers).
