About Student Affairs
Welcome to Student Affairs Medicine at the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Medicine!

We currently support Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME), Masters of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS), Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) and International Medical Graduates (IMG) learners through:
  • Career exploration opportunities (UGME Pre-Clerkship)
  • CaRMS preparation support (UGME Clerkship)
  • Student wellness & counseling resources and referals (UGME/MPAS/PGME/IMG)
  • Academic advising/advocacy concerning processes following exam failure (UGME/MPAS/PGME/IMG)
  • Facilitation of internally/externally funded bursaries, loans, awards and prizes available to UGME and MPAS students

Student Affairs Medicine serves as a liason to many campus services such as Financial Aid & Awards, the Registrar's Office, Student Accessibility Services and Student Advocacy. At Bannatyne campus, we work on your behalf with UGME/MPAS/PGME/IMG administrators, Deans, the Faculty and the various departments in medicine.  We are a confidential resource for you to explore strategies for academic, emotional and personal success. We are a caring, unbiased ear to listen and make recommendations or referals where necessary. We look forward to meeting you!

  • Booking appointments with the Associate Dean, Students and Advisor, Student Affairs for personal, wellness, academic issues (including Leave of Absences; deferrals; exam accommodations)
  • Receiving various student applications, forms, letters and receipts for processing

  • Signing student loan documents, related document processing, inquiries and advocacy
  • Providing information to students on the Provincial return of service programs
  • Bursary and Award inquiries
  • Award processing for Entrance Scholarships, Inaugural, Convocation, B.Sc. Med, and Faculty Bursaries
  • Career Planning & Exploration sessions (Pre-Clerkship students)
  • Organizing CaRMS Preparation supports such as Mock Interviews, specialty forums etc. (Clerkship students)
