RESEARCH SUMMARY

The major objective of my research program is to determine the cellular and molecular mechanisms of early cerebellar development. My immediate goals are to exploit the power of mouse genetic models to understand neurogenesis, axonogenesis and pattern formation in the developing cerebellum. I also study pattern Purkinje cells degeneration in mouse mutant models. I utilize variety of cellular and molecular techniques, in vivo and in vitro, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to understand the pathologies underlying clinical significances of cerebellar pattern formation. It is our hope that this research provides valuable insight into the mechanism fundamental the normal and abnormal brain development.
