Research

Research in our laboratory examines the potential for early detection of environmental toxins using Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy and electron microscopy. These technologies are used to characterize and correlate basic cellular changes in the developing lung in response to exposure of environmental toxins. We use both tissue culture and in-vivo models.  The toxins being studied are those found in tobacco and molds found in wet building materials.
