Welcome to the KIAM Center Intraoperative MRI webpage.

The mobile, intraoperative magnetic resonance (iMR) imaging system in use at HSC was developed by Innovative Magnetic Resonance Imaging Systems Inc. (IMRIS).  An ultra-powerful magnet is contained within the machine and is surrounded by the bore’s protective walls.  The MRI machine is stored within one wall of the theatre behind shielded metal double “garage” doors.  The machine advances into the theatre and retracts back into its storage area using ceiling-mounted tracts.
