Prospective Students

Prior to submitting your application to Graduate Studies, the following four criteria MUST be satisfied:

  1. It is the prospective student's responsibility to contact and secure a supervisor prior to applying to Biochemistry & Medical Genetics.  Please contact only the ones currently accepting graduate students on our faculty listing, and send the prospective supervisor your CV and transcripts.  Faculty will not respond if this information is not included.
  2. Submit a letter of permission to tuntun.sarkar@med.umanitoba.ca from the faculty member who is willing to supervise you .
  3. After receiving a written confirmation from your prospective supervisor regarding acceptance, you are then REQUIRED to forward scanned copies of your transcripts to tuntun.sarkar@med.umanitoba.ca for eligibility. 
  4. Meet all admission requirements of our department as well as the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

The Biochemistry and Medical Genetics Graduate Student Admissions Committee will evaluate all applications received from the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Based on the recommendations of the Committee, the Chair of the Graduate Student Admissions Committee will advise the Head as to the acceptability of the applicant. Only the Chair of the Graduate Student Admissions Committee and the Head (or the Chair and Head's designate) has the authority to make recommendations for admission to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
