Jeff Chan
Bio:  Jeff was born and raised in Toronto, and spent the early years of life dreaming of becoming a dump truck driver. At some point an infatuation for medicine might have been implanted by his parents, before realizing sometime in his 20s this might actually be a fitting career. He finished his family medicine training at the University of Toronto based out of the Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket and is very excited to be studying emergency medicine in Winnipeg. The pathology, staff teaching, academic teaching, SIM sessions and the other residents are amazing. Jeff also keeps active playing volleyball and tennis and will take steps to improve his golf swing. The first two months have just blown by. More Tint and sushi rounds and all the above to come, can't wait.

Evan Head (Co-Chief Resident)
Bio: I'm originally from St. Thomas, Ontario, a small town south of London famous for Joe Thornton and a Ford assembly plant.  My undergraduate degrees were from McGill (Anatomy) and Dalhousie (Management).  Next my postsecondary education took me to Western in London, Ontario for Medical School and then two years of Family Medicine at the University of Toronto. I like to do something active every day, whether it be running, going to the gym, playing hockey or waterskiing.  My first purchase after I finally pay off my debt from medical school will be a 4x4 truck and a boat to attach to the back of it.  I try to get out and waterski as much as possible in the summers but currently I'm boat-less.  I hope to continue to practice Emergency Medicine along with Family Medicine in a rural setting. Winnipeg and the other Emergency Medicine Residents have been warm and welcoming.  My first rotation at HSC is proving to be exactly what I wanted out of this program - more experience at acute resuscitation and managing sick patients.  So far the SIM man training and the academic half days are huge strengths of the program.

Kelly MacDonald (Co-Chief Resident)
Bio:  My medical training has taken me all across Canada and I've enjoyed living in different parts of the country and meeting new people. I'm from Vancouver and did my undergrad degree at the University of Victoria. I then completed medical school at Western University in London, Ontario. After four years of being land-locked in Ontario, I was eager to be back on the ocean so I went to Halifax for my Family Medicine Residency. I loved living in the Maritimes but thought it would be fun to check out a new part of the country for my ER year and was curious to see the crazy pathology that Winnipeg is famous for. I'm very impressed so far by the welcoming nature of the program and the cohesiveness of the Emerg residents. Outside of medicine, I love hiking, camping, skiing, traveling and spending time with my family. My goal is to live in a small community and work in a Family Medicine clinic as well as in the ER.

Peter Wauthy
Bio: I was born and raised in BC. I have grown to love the great outdoors. Whether it’s hiking, camping, fishing, or just relaxing, I strive to get out there. When I’m not outside, I’m usually cooking Italian, attempting to play guitar, or getting my sweat on. I did my medical training in the Northern Medical Program through UBC where I met my beautiful wife, Erin. We completed our FP residency in Kelowna, BC and we are now expecting our first child. I look forward to the upcoming year… I have been told that I will be holding my newborn baby in one hand while holding Tintinalli in the other for bedtime stories. I envision working in a community hospital and I look forward to the adventures ahead.
