Residents are required to successfully complete a written academic project during their residency training program. The resident academic project consists of one of the following four scholarly endeavors:
1) Research Proposal
- Question, literature review, methods
2) Educational Methodology Paper
- Question – eg – How Should We Teach Suture Skills?
- Literature Review
- Concrete Plan of Action – may be a tool
3) Policy Paper
- Question/Problem to be solved – eg – What is the role of the family physician in advocating for the homeless?
- Literature review
- Recommendation
4) Ethics Discussion Paper
- Problem/Clinical Scenarios
- Literature Review
- Synthesis
