Join Us - Become a Preceptor!
Opportunities are available to teach students at all levels of training...

• Undergraduate Medical Student Clerkship (5 weeks)
• Postgraduate Rural Family Medicine Selective (8 weeks)
• Postgraduate Bilingual Program Placements (5 or 6 months)
• Postgraduate Resident Core Rotations (4 weeks)
• Undergraduate Medical Student Electives (2 to 4 weeks)

Medical students consistently rate their Family Medicine clerkship experience as one of their best rotations. We attribute this success to our community preceptors and the warm welcome students receive when they are on placement.

To teach medical students, preceptors must have full registration with The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba and certification from The College of Family
Physicians of Canada is preferred. To teach residents, preceptors must have full or conditional registration with The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba
(certain conditions apply) and certification from The College of Family Physicians of Canada is preferred.

Preceptors receive...

• Orientation materials
• Clinical teaching workshops
• A University of Manitoba appointment
• University email account
• Full access to the university library system and online collection
• Invitations to special events

We pay a stipend for each week of placement, though this is unlikely to be your motivation for wanting to mentor a student or resident. Most physicians become preceptors
because they enjoy the camaraderie, appreciate the service the students and residents contribute to their practice, and feel good about being involved in someone’s education and
future career. We believe your relationship with our students and residents will be among the most rewarding of your professional life.
