MINDEL AND TOM OLENICK RESEARCH AWARD IN IMMUNOLOGY
(Entrance scholarship administered by the University of Manitoba)

Effective 2008, a maximum of three $3,000 tax-free awards are made annually to exceptional new entrants into the Department of Immunology Graduate Program (M.Sc. or Ph.D.).

This award is given in addition to student stipends provided by the Advisor or funding agency. All applicants with completed applications are automatically considered for this award. Eligible graduate students

1. are enrolled full-time in the first year of study in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, in a program delivered by the Department of Immunology;
2. have achieved an excellent academic record, with a minimum degree grade point average of 3.5 (or equivalent) in the last 60 credit hours of post-secondary study, and have demonstrated potential for research excellence;
3. have proposed to conduct research in any area of Immunology.

If, in the judgement of the selection committee, there are no suitable candidates in a given academic year, the scholarships will not be offered. The available funds will be held and used at the discretion of the selection committee to offer additional scholarships the following year.

A maximum of one award per investigator per year is given.**

**This award is separate from the $11,000 Mindel and Tom Olenick Research Award in Immunology which is administered by the Health Sciences Centre Foundation.

MINDEL AND TOM OLENICK RESEARCH AWARD IN IMMUNOLOGY (Discontinued 2008)

A family endowment established in 1997 at the Health Sciences Centre Foundation in celebration of Tom Olenick's 75th birthday.

Awarded annually on the basis of scientific merit for immunology research conducted in Manitoba by a graduate student (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) or Post Doctoral Fellow affiliated with the University of Manitoba.

DEPARTMENT OF IMMUNOLOGY GRADUATE STUDENT ACADEMIC AWARD
Award established June 2006

In celebration of the retirement of Dr. Donna Chow from the Department of Immunology in 2004 an endowment fund was established by her family, friends and colleagues to support an award that encourages the academic excellence of graduate students focusing on immunology. The award is offered to a student who:

1. is enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Manitoba;
2. has achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 4 in the graduate program;
3. has achieved the highest grade in the IMMU7020- Immunobiology, plus the highest grade in another 3 credit hour Immunology course.

The courses must be completed in two sequential years (one after the other with no gap). Candidates will be considered and the award offered after the completion of the second course.
