PERSONAL LETTER
A personal letter is required. The letter should include the applicant’s background, perceived strengths and weaknesses, interests in obstetrics and gynecology, future plans and expectations of the residency program.
REFERENCE LETTERS
Three letters of reference are required and must be submitted to CaRMS. These must be from attending physicians or a senior resident.
INTERVIEWS
All applications will be reviewed and applicants who are short-listed will be offered interviews. Two panels of clinicians and residents will interview those applicants who are short-listed. As much as possible, we will be flexible in offering times for interviews. As we are coordinating with other programs in Obstetrics and Gynecology, we shall be offering interviews over a two-day period. Please see the CaRMS site for the timetable.
Discussions during the interview will include general information, the candidate's interest in obstetrics and gynecology, and methods of coping with stress. Opportunities will be given to the candidate to ask questions. A tour of the facility will be arranged. A social evening is planned for interviewees and residents.
SELECTION POLICY
The Selection Committee will rank the candidates, using the personal letter, academic record, letters of reference, interview and personal experience. This rank order will be submitted to CaRMS.
