Please tell us what your career goals are and what you hope to gain from the rotation. Take a few minutes to think about your personal learning objectives and make them known to the residents and attending staff who are working with you. Volunteer to present a case or topic of interest at High Risk Rounds or Gynecological Oncology Rounds. Use every opportunity to teach the medical students. Remember how much you were in awe of the residents when you were a clerk! Be sure to complete your PGY-1 Learning Portfolio as it allows you to monitor your experience and helps your attending physician to complete your evaluation. We will do our best to make sure you have a valuable educational experience in Women’s Health.
Of course, you have a job to do and everyone benefits when members of the team step up to the plate to get the work done. Make sure you follow-up on your in-patients and “own” the patients you admit when you are on call. You now have the clinical skills to make a valuable contribution to the diagnosis and treatment of the women you will be helping to care for on rotation. We hope you will enjoy your time with us and that your future patients will benefit from the confidence and expertise you acquire here.
