In support of our “Survivors Teaching Students” medical education program we would like to announce that September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness month. The Ovarian Cancer Survivors education session is presented to our 3rd year medical students during their Obstetrics and Gynecology rotation. It is facilitated by 3 knowledgeable survivors who volunteer to share their experiences with the diagnosis of ovarian cancer. In addition to learning about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, the session encompasses the psychosocial aspects and the post-treatment trajectory. The response from our medical students has been extremely positive and in honour of our survivor teachers we encourage you to support the Ovarian Cancer “Winners Walk of Hope, to be held on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 9:00 am.
